The City of Kamloops has awarded Dawson Construction Ltd. the construction contract to resurface Lac Le Jeune Road.
The local contractor pitched the lowest bid at $899,600 (excluding GST), besting the other lone proposal by about $65,000.
The project — which spans Lac Le Jeune Road from the west Kamloops municipal boundary to a half-kilometre west of the Iron Mask Trailer Park — includes nearly five kilometres of full-depth pavement reclamation, along with paving, shouldering and minor grading and driveway improvements.
The project budget is $1.1 million, with $200,000 set aside for project management, administration and contingency funding.
Road construction was delayed this year due to inclement weather.
The city is also expected to reconstruct River Road in Valleyview this year, including additional sidewalks, curbing gutters and street lighting.
